How to get Senior Citizens I-card

In developed countries senior citizens are treated with care and concern giving cognizance to their special life circumstances. Almost all developed countries issue a Social Security ID card that entitles the cardholder to avail of benefits at shops, service centres and products exclusively meant for senior citizens. These also include certain important senior citizen services such as emergency assistance.

India tried to replicate the model by introducing Aadhar card for Indian nationals.  However due to various complexities involved & delay in  implementation process, many people especially  senior citizens could not get their hands on Aadhar card. Unavailability of senior citizen centers for this purpose and lack of required assistance to senior people is one of the reasons.

We have been getting messages from our elderly readers to write a post on how to procure a senior citizens I card since they are frequently asked to verify their seniority using some id proof. The process of issuing senior citizens I card is being operated by both Government & Non government bodies in majority of the states, Do check with  collectors office about who is handling the process in your respective district.
