She has been an ardent social worker for the past 40 years in the field of cancer. She firmly believes that like singers and poets,social workers are born to serve from the heart.Mrs Sudha Murgai has made her mark in the field of health,women empowerment,childcare,education and animal welfare.She has made a mark against cancer through her work in awareness,early detection,patient care,counseling and fundraising for the medicines,food and care of the economically deprived patients.
Sudha maam’s work includes community awareness, training programs,emotional support programs and forums on different kinds of cancer,but putting in maximum efforts on Breast and cervix cancer.She has organized various Fashion shows,fundraisers ,music and dance shows for the cause. She last organized a Preventive Oncology Conference PRONCO in 2016 at the Imperial Hotel Delhi . This conference was attended by top Oncologists from India,USA and UK.She and her team have travelled the North East with Mary Kom to spread awareness about cancer and organize Health Check up camps.She has travelled in many parts of India to educate the people about cancer.
Mrs. Sudha has been an empaneled producer of Doordarshan and along with her late husband made films on Pet Care,Indian zoos and wild life sanctuaries. Besides this Sudha Ma’am was Heading Hill View School at the J&K border to help educating the children in the border villages
Sudha Ma’am has been the Hony Director of Roko Cancer Charitable Trust India and is now also their Senior Advisor.She has worked tireleslly for spreading awareness and helping to make early detection of this dreaded disease possible so,as to save many precious lives.
Mrs Sudha Murgai has done most of her education in Pune and Chandigarh.She is also an Adviser for new NGOs guiding them and steering them in the right direction. Sudha Ma’am started her journey in the field of cancer with CPAA in 1980.This was her training ground.She was the Director Projects and events At CPAA.
Under her guidance Roko Cancer won the prestigeous Assocham award for the Best NGO 2016 .This was presented to her by the State Minister ,Health,Delhi in appreciation of her team.
She has been conferred with the Paramvir Chakra Puruskar by I Congo.She has been awarded the silver medal very early in her career for her dedication and sincerity for the cause.The Lions International award was also presented to her .Besides this many more times her work was appreciated and awarded. She categorically mentions that she does not work for awards and hopes that one day cancer is eradicated and our future generations enjoy a healthy life in a cancer-free India.
